It started with a thought, a vision and a dream;
To build the best Company and to have the best team,
Helping Customers save money while also going green!
The core values were developed and the product fills a need,
But are people going to care about the air or the trees?
They might when it directly impacts the mouths that they feed.
Regardless of what people may think, feel or say,
We can either be part of the problem or create solutions today,
And changing the world is the game that Viridian wants to play!
But would this idea work and how would it grow?
Direct mailings, billboards or an ad on a TV show?
Is that the direction that Viridian will go?
Helping to educate people about a product they already buy,
Using word of mouth marketing seems definitely worth a try.
Let's incentivize everyday people to finance their “Why!”
Seven continents in seven years, the global stage was set;
This is where the vision and mission ultimately met,
And will create opportunities and memories that one couldn’t forget
The first year was to Brazil, where planting trees was the project at hand;
Our goal was to replenish this God-given land.
The emotional impact on the leaders could not have been planned
On to Africa, in the second year,
We started the journey with trepidation and fear;
Home wasn’t going to be anywhere near.
Where were we going, and what would we do?
No one in our group had even a clue.
But we were on our way to be refreshed and renewed.
When we finally got to our Ghana destination,
It was obvious that we were in another nation with a different civilization;
But our desire to know the people became a growing fascination.
The trip was a mix between philanthropy and fun.
The first half we worked hard under the sun,
And then to a safari when our work was done!
While we went to help and impact the lives of others,
These strangers became like brothers, sisters and mothers.
But the giver got more, like it always is with lovers...
East meets West, rich meets poor,
One rich in spirit, the other has more;
Humanity connected with the soul as the door.
While these people had nothing, they actually had it all,
Their grateful hearts made them stand proud and tall;
The differences between us had no barriers or walls
Their culture and colors and amazing love for life,
Made each of us temporarily forget our own strifes.
To put things back in perspective was certainly nice!
The people we helped hadn’t seen electricity before
Their lives would never be the same, that was for sure; they had no idea what was in store.
We installed solar panels, power-generating merry-go-rounds, and so much more.
But what we really brought was a brand new hope,
So that these beautiful African people could cope.
They were able to see their lives through a shifted perspective kaleidoscope.
When we left our new friends we knew our visit was complete,
They were laughing and crying all up and down the street.
What an amazing accomplishment, truly a great feat!
From Ghana to Kenya, we made our way,
Now we were going to relax and play.
We were living in the moment and enjoying each day.
Upon landing our plane, we were greeted by men,
Whose name we knew weren’t Ben, Len or Glen;
They were going to bring us into the Lion’s Den!
Into the jungle our jeeps drove through,
The sights were astonishing and the skies so blue;
The anticipation and joy one couldn’t undo
We arrived at our resort, tired and fatigued,
But a swim at the pool and a beer is what we need;
A small reward for all our good deeds!
After some rest and a meal, we were ready for “the drive,”
Better known as a safari, where you have to be careful to survive!
This is where wildlife tends to thrive.
We saw elephants and giraffes to name a few,
We saw footprints in the mud that measured two by two;
That's when we knew, our crew could be stew!
We drove for hours, absorbing nature into our eyes,
Like we were spies watching the plants photosynthesize.
Much to our surprise, the peace and serenity was the greatest prize.
The best part of the trip was bonding with the leaders,
These are life's greatest readers, greeters and feeders.
But in Viridian they are also the ones with the most meters :)
It was clear that we all have the same goal,
But leaders know what has be done and they fulfill their role.
They work passionately through the toll on their soul.
The trip was over, at least on paper,
But the experience was something we will forever savor.
There is no way to repay this amazing favor.
Our lives were transformed, we have a new worldly view;
This trip doesn't have to be limited to few.
Next year, in Asia this experience could happen to YOU!
Thank you Michael Fallquist, for pursuing your dream,
And allowing us to be part of your amazing team,
But also for recognizing that your sales people produce the steam of your machine!
The vision and mission and tools are in place,
The independent Associates will dictate the pace.
But we must all remember that market share is the name of the race!
Put forth the work now and go the extra mile,
In three years from now you'll have the biggest smile.
You have to fight through the trial, in order to have style, but then it will all have seemed worthwhile!
With conviction in your eyes and a burning desire in your heart,
Today is the day that you can start
To build the life of your dreams if you play your part!
Go make it happen, go win the prize,
The dreams in your heart can be realized;
You never know what can happen, if you just try!
My name is Mike FitzPatrick, and I am Generation V.
