For me, the most memorable experience of our amazing trip to Africa was the looks on the faces of the 100+ children when we finished assembling the merry-go-round outside their school. They had waited and watched all day as we worked to put together the unit.
The moment we were done, I estimate that 40 to 50 children (or more) ran and jumped onto the spinning platform of the merry-go-round with a level of laughter, exhilaration, and pure joy that I don’t think I’ve ever seen before.
What really struck me was how much extraordinary happiness so many human beings could experience as a result of something so simple—and something that many of us (especially me) could easily take for granted. I'll never forget the looks of delight and happiness on those children’s faces, and the feelings of deep joy I experienced by simply watching them.
Sharing that moment with my beautiful wife, Pennie, and other members of our Viridian “family” was truly a moment I will never forget—and an amazing experience on an extraordinary trip!
