LG Electronics USA recently made a huge stride toward completing a goal by having 100 percent green energy at its headquarters in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey.

The company is purchasing green power for its headquarters in cooperation with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Green Power Partnership, harnessing more than 1.5 million kilowatt-hours of green power for the next 18 months.

The EPA stated that LG's green power purchase will reduce carbon dioxide emissions equivalent to those of more than 200 passenger vehicles a year.

"EPA applauds LG for joining the Green Power Partnership and for meeting 100 percent of its electricity use for its U.S. headquarters building with renewable resources," said Blaine Collison, director of the EPA Green Power Partnership. "Complementing LG's strong GHG reduction goal, the company's green power commitment helps to reduce the environmental impacts associated with conventional electricity use and provides an excellent example for other organizations."

New Jersey also recently saw High Bridge become part of a select group of New Jersey municipalities that have achieved Sustainable Jersey certification, which aims to improve energy efficiency, according to the Hunterdon County Democrat.
