A plan to build a 20-megawatt solar array at the Chicago-Rockford International Airport recently received environmental approval from the U.S. Department of Energy and the Federal Aviation Administration.

As a result of the approval, the FAA and the DoE recently issued a "Finding of No Significant Impact" for the 20-megawatt solar farm at the Rockford Airport.

The largest commercial airport solar farm in America will be constructed on the 70 acres of land near the Chicago-Rockford International Airport. This new solar project at the airport will create hundreds of construction, manufacturing and maintenance jobs.

More airports across the country are planning on implementing the use of solar energy. The Tallahassee Regional Airport recently announced the installation of 176 solar panels and a photovoltaic system at its main terminal.

The solar installations will generate 20 kilowatts of solar power per day, which will decrease the airport's energy bill and also promote the use of green energy installations elsewhere in Tallahassee.
