A new website offers consumers information on how to lower their electricity bills through "Consumer Choice" programs in deregulated states. LowerYourElectricRate.com offers customers a list of suppliers customized by state and utility territory.
The website was created because many customers can be confused by energy deregulation. A spokesman for Urso Energy, the creator of the website, says the website can answer the consumers' questions and allow them to make the right choice for purchasing energy.
Currently, Connecticut, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C., are listed on the website. Urso Energy will add more deregulated states to the site later this year.
One of the main benefits of energy deregulation is that it allows energy consumers the option to purchase cheap green power, according to pennlive.com.
The website says Pennsylvanian energy customers can shop for green energy options that include wind power generation products. Energy suppliers buy wind energy certificates on the wholesale market and then sell them at a retail price to the customer.
