In order to help small businesses, farmers and ranchers monitor their energy use, Department of Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack recently announced the USDA has created a new website, usda.gov/energy.
"So USDA has launched a new energy website to serve as a one-stop shop for data about energy efficiency and renewable energy programs at USDA; it builds on my commitment to make sure that USDA is using the most up to date technology to deliver modern and efficient service," said Vilsack.
The new website will work to drive economic growth with the use of green energy and energy efficient practices, and showcase how using clean energy resources can create jobs across the country.
Vilsack also said the website will be a tool to expand energy choice among consumers, by helping people find energy resources financed or otherwise supported by the USDA.
The USDA also recently announced it is accepting applications for a grant program to help agricultural producers and rural small businesses with their own renewable energy projects.
The USDA has approximately a $25.4 million budget to fund these new projects, which will be spent both on grant and guaranteed loan programs.
