Phoenix Suns using the sun

Using the force theyre named for, as well as one of Arizonas biggest natural resources, the Phoenix Suns announced this week that they have partnered with Arizona Public Service and the city of Phoenix to successfully install a 227-watt solar array on the teams US Airways Arena. The 17,000 square foot array will generate 378,000 kilowatt-hours of renewable electricity annually, powering twenty home games. Team leader and two-time MVP Steve Nash has also been inspired to use solar power on his residence, showing his leadership in energy efficiency as well.

Maryland Getting Greener

Viridians Maryland community just got another reason to love supporting green energy. Maryland customers can now not only choose renewable energy plans with Viridian, but their state legislators this week passed a bill that will begin development of offshore wind in Maryland. Such a major development would help drive down the cost of renewable energy, create jobs for construction and maintenance, and support out nations energy independence.
