Power changes everything

My heart is full. Today I sit in my airplane seat watching the Nicaraguan countryside and landscape of mountains, valleys, lakes and volcanoes slowly shrink beneath me. Though grateful to be heading home, I also feel just a little sadness, knowing I am leaving a little bit of my heart behind – in the mountains, in the markets, and mostly in the humble homes of Platanal.

Finding Connections in Simple Things: Baseball, Slingshots and Family

When I found out I was going to be a part of the Nicaragua trip, I was excited for two main reasons: The experience to change people’s lives and the opportunity to mingle with another culture. Upon arriving in Nicaragua, I did not know what to expect with the people or the scenery. The people were extra friendly and very welcoming and the mountains and volcanoes were beautiful.

A Memory Ingrained Forever

It’s impossible to compare journeys as each trip has is its own unique experience that stays with you forever. However this most recent 7 Continents in 7 years trip to Nicaragua stood out from the rest for me as the group worked collectively to bring light to Platanal. It was a pleasure to finally see the results of many months of planning with GRID Alternatives come to life to help the community of Platanal.
