Brenden Kenny: This Summer is Your Best Shot at Network Marketing Success... Are You Ready?

It’s officially summer, meaning the days are longer and brighter and moods lifted. Best of all, there are a number of activities that network marketers can embrace to keep themselves—and their teams—invigorated as they head into the second half of the year.

For example, I work even harder during the summertime knowing that whatever momentum I create will enable my team and I to drive our business all the way to Viridian’s largest national convention, the 2015 PowerUP Conference. This year’s event takes place from September 11-13 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia.

When it comes to your network marketing strategy, summer is the best season to mix things up; it’s the time to strategically leverage the environment around you to generate buzz, sign on new customers and Associates, and collaborate with your team on new ways to accelerate business. Here are some ways to creatively leverage all that summer has to offer:

Reflect on the journey and celebrate victories: Summer is the ideal time to celebrate victories, both big and small, with the people you mentor and coach. For instance, when I see that a leader within my downteam has achieved a certain level of leadership or advanced in rank, I like to invite the individual—and his or her spouse—to dinner to celebrate. There are too many people in network marketing who are so focused on the end goal that they forget to enjoy the journey. So be different. Take time to pause, reflect, create memories and enjoy the ride. Don’t overlook the importance of these things. You work so hard to get to where you are, so take time to celebrate your accomplishments and the journey.

Move around: The warm weather is motivation enough to pinpoint new spots for your team to meet, as well as for you to meet with prospects and customers to show the business. For example, some leaders from my team created a weekly event called “Summer in the City,” in which every Monday of the month we visit a different location to mix up the atmosphere and keep us focused on learning new network marketing best practices.

Also, if your team is traveling together to a show or a training seminar try driving together. As we inch closer to PowerUP, a group within my team is planning on taking a bus from Massachusetts to Philly. Sharing this experience together—a six- to eight-hour drive—is an incredible way to create team unity and simply have a good time on the way to the event.

Get your mind off of business: Summertime is known for fun and vacationing, so take a moment to stop talking about business and instead create memories. I recently threw a BBQ with some of my leaders to not only kick off the summer but to simply kick back and relax. Don’t let these moments pass you by. You have the entire summer to amplify your network marketing efforts, so find some quiet time to focus on just enjoying the company of the hardworking people you collaborate with before kicking things into high gear in preparation for fall.

PowerUP 2015 is just around the corner. I build my entire business around this annual convention, and I know from experience that by implementing some of the above practices I am able to increase my team’s level of energy and productivity tenfold going into the fall. Historically, I have seen my numbers increase during the months of October, November and December.

This summer is your chance to show that you and your team are moving full speed toward all that the months ahead have to offer. For us at Viridian, this is the time to focus on the momentum to be had at PowerUP. If you and your team attend this year’s convention fresh off of the summer energy, you’ll have no choice but to leave on hyper drive.
