Goals for 2015 (part 1)
As many of you know already, I’m an ambitious individual with big goals. I set goals in all aspects of my life – personal goals, professional goals. I believe an important driver of success is having a clear view of your intended outcome before you start down the path, any path.
I founded Viridian over 5 years ago with a simple goal – to make green energy more affordable. To help people realize that they could make simple choices (e.g. using a smarter choice for electricity service), that have tremendous impact particularly when looked at in its entirety. Individual choice, collective impact. To me, there is nothing more rewarding than reading our sustainability reports each year which allows me to really appreciate the true collective impact we are making. And, I believe much of our success is due to the fact that we had a clearly defined goal.
At the 2014 Leadership retreat, we made another commitment—to work with our Independent Associates as true business partners. We want to collaborate and provide education, insight, tools, training and information that enable you to be your best, so together we are the best. In doing so, we challenged you to learn what drives our prices, what drives the utility prices, what can cause the prices to deviate, and more. We wanted you to take charge of your business and we realized that meant we needed to facilitate by empowering you as a business partner.
Building on that theme, starting in 2015 and continuing forward on an annual basis (or more frequently if needed), we will be communicating our goals for Viridian. We believe that if we make them known, much like we did with Viridian back in the day (to make green energy more affordable), we can collectively reach all our goals. Stay tuned for my next few blogs as I outline each of our goals for next year…
