Frank Marone: The Importance of Surrounding Yourself With Like-minded People
We’ve all been there. We’ve all come across the naysayer, or the individual who will try to knock your direct selling passion. The truth is that there are plenty of people out there—including your friends and family—who may appear to be supporting your direct selling path when in truth they are not.
It’s not their fault. Keep in mind that it’s natural for people to try to put down your part-time work and tell you that you can’t do it and that it won’t work mainly because they said “no” to joining your business. Unfortunately, those people are out there and are tearing a lot of Associates down, and the newer Associates will succumb to them and want to quit. So avoid them.
I always say surround yourself with people who are doing the business and who are doing it well. There are so many opportunities to put yourself in the company of like-minded people, whether that’s joining some of the most veteran Associates on an incentive trip, stopping by an opportunity meeting, or attending a corporate- or Associate-led meeting. The more you are around the people in Viridian, the stronger your belief becomes and it’s all about belief in this business. After all, if we don’t believe in what we are doing, we won’t succeed.
The people who don’t move forward in this business are those who don’t surround themselves by likeminded people and fail to have the inner strength to say, “My reason for being here is to change my life and I am not going to let any individual put me down.”
So as we inch closer to spring—and with an exciting incentive trip on the horizon—take a good hard look at how much effort you are truly putting into your business and how resolved you remain in being around positive people. I say this all the time … if you join the gym but don’t go, you can’t say the gym doesn’t work. The gym works if you go and I don’t mean once a month. If you commit to exercise 3-4 times a week you WILL get results. Viridian is no different. The model works if you put a consistent effort into it. There are no excuses.
So, be the exception. Don’t question yourself, and do spend a bit more time with encouragers as opposed to naysayers.
