FULFILLING OUR PROMISE TO THE AMAZON RAINFOREST

The Amazon represents over half of the planet’s remaining rainforests and contains the largest and most diverse collection of plants and animals. Back in 2011, Viridian decided this hotspot for biodiversity would be the first stop of our 7 Continents in 7 Years journey. Since that trip, we’ve established our Amazon Preservation Project, a commitment to plant a total of 5,000 trees in deforested regions of the Amazon. In January 2016, a dedicated group of voluntourists journeyed to the Amazon for the last time and planted the final trees.

Viridian's 5,000 Trees of the Rainforest

In January 2016, Viridian Energy completed a 5-year initiative to hand-plant 5,000 trees in the Amazon rainforest. Although the Amazon Preservation Project is now complete, our commitment to our planet gains momentum every year.

APP 2011 Planting Trip

In Year Five of our 7 Continents in 7 Years (7C7Y) initiative, we stayed on the North American continent and journeyed to the beautiful Central American nation of Nicaragua. Our project destination was Portrero Platanal, a rural, off-the-grid village that’s inaccessible by car. There, we worked with nonprofit organization GRID Alternatives and 40 local families to install clean, reliable solar power on their homes, replacing dirty and expensive kerosene lanterns.

Back to Brazil and back to making a difference! Join with 30 of your fellow Viridian family members as they visit Turtle Lodge and replant 3 burnt out portions of the Amazon rain forest. Once again, Viridian has upped the game, planting a record-breaking 401 trees in a 2-day period of time, bringing life back to a decimated ecosystem.

Back to Brazil and back to making a difference! Join with many of your fellow Viridian family members as they visit Turtle Lodge and replant burnt out portions of the Amazon rain forest. Once again, Viridian has upped the game, planting a record-breaking 460 trees in a 2-day period of time, bringing life back to a decimated ecosystem.
